Jack and I should go to this Dogpatch diner (in Potrero Hill, San Francisco) more often. Such breakfasts they serve up there! We went a few weeks ago and I opted for biscuits and gravy and eggs over easy and a side of steamed veggies. But I also had a hankering, a real bad hankering, for grits, which is something my southern born and raised Mom made for many a breakfast and ALSO many a dinner. I liked grits and pork chops. I liked grits and eggs. Or all three at the same time.
Right around the corner from Just for You is the Hard Knox Cafe. Soulfood. Blackened catfish with black-eyed peas and rice and collard greens and yams, say. Or fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy OR macaroni. Corn muffins too. And cream sodas.
I like Dogpatch. In fact I want to go walk around over there some more and take pictures. Then you'll see why I like it so much.
