Internet blackout! - Stop Online Piracy Act - Salon.com
I hope everyone takes the time to read this. Scary stuff for those of us who believe in the Internet as a source of great freedom and communication for all those who previously had no voice in the world, or voices that could not compete with the Big Authoritarian Powers - governments, corporations, etc.
I would rather people be able to "pirate" my photos and even my writing than have the Internet policed and controlled as it would be if these acts are passed in Congress.

Make no mistake, SOPA and PIPA, are designed to establish legal precedent which will be utilized to tighten the strangle hold on the free and open exchange of information. He who controls the flow of information can effectively silence the voice of Americans who wish to participate in our Democracy. This is a war. The battlefield is the Internet. It is not about online piracy, the music and movie industry is enjoying unprecedented profits never before seen in the history of the industry. Their lobbyists already insure excessive influence in Washington. Orwellian language and crocodile tears.......be afraid, be very afraid.
